Oakville Contemporary Comfort

This Oakville family home features a great open kitchen and family room area, but the existing layout did not maximize on the space. Interior Works extended the kitchen cabinetry in both length and height and made the island as large as possible, while still leaving plenty of room for the re-finished kitchen table and new seating. The space features re-finished floors, new lighting fixtures, and brighter more inviting colours with touches of wood accents, new furniture, fresh paint throughout and a vinyl textured wall covering in the family room. We used the existing appliances, fireplace cabinetry, drapery and ceiling details as a starting point for the new design.

The kitchen features MDF doors in the “Maidstone” door profile painted Benjamin Moore “Chantilly Lace” with stained accents in the island feet, open shelves, and hood trim. The contrasting quartz counter tops, both from Caesarstone, are “Organic White” on the perimeter and “Turbine Gray” on the island. The blue-gray back splash tile laid in a herringbone pattern was used to tie it all together.

The family room features custom furniture from Brentwood, Silva, Hooker furniture, a custom size area rug from Anderson’s, a textured vinyl wallcovering from Woeller, and picture rails manufactured by Interior Works.

The renovation of the ensuite included creating a curbless steam shower, installing a new freestanding tub, new light fixtures, new flooring and a textured accent wall tile behind the tub and shower. A new vanity provides ample storage with an on-counter unit, and an open shelving unit to shield the tub with built-in laundry hamper pull outs and a stained finish to match the mirror frame. The vanity is comprised of MDF doors in the “Toulouse” profile painted Benjamin Moore “Gray Owl,” and Caesarstone’s “Bianco Drift” quartz counter top.
